We are already well underway
We have in Danske Hoteller focused on reducing initiatives - small and large - around energy, water, etc. which can make a big difference in the hotels in daily life and in the group as a whole.
As a guest, you will experience that…
- Rooms are not cleaned for stays of several days (see info on the rooms)
- We use many organic and local ingredients and other products in the kitchen
- We collaborate with "To Good To Go" to reduce food waste
- All excess food waste is used for green energy
- Our laundry is Nordic Ecolabelled
- We use Swan-labelled cleaning agents
- We send all cardboard for recycling
- We sort all waste
- We are constantly thinking about reducing our plastic consumption and other sustainable measures
- We turn off unnecessary lights in the hotel's common areas

Stop food waste with Danske Hoteller
How can you as a guest contribute...?
In connection with Danske Hotellers efforts for a better and greener environment, we encourage all our guests not to put more on the plate than you can eat when you help yourself from the buffet. We assure you that there is enough food for everyone, even when you arrive at the end of opening hours.
In our world, food waste/overconsumption is one of the biggest culprits in the fight for a better and greener environment.
Should you need a packed lunch for the day, you are most welcome. Just let the staff know - it only costs DKK 65 per person. person.

Daily cleaning of the rooms is reduced
One of our measures concerns the daily cleaning of the room during a stay.
We have chosen to no longer automatically carry out the daily cleaning for guests who stay more than 1 night. This helps to reduce our consumption of water and electricity considerably... not least when you consider that it covers 26 hotels 365 days a year.
As a guest, if this is desired and by agreement with the reception, you can still have a light cleaning as well as the collection of waste, clean towels or other things. And this service is not associated with additional costs for our guests.
You will find electric charging stations in a large selection of our hotels
Danske Hoteller has established electric charging stations for electric cars in a large number of our hotels.
Danske Hoteller partners with "Too Good To Go" to reduce food waste
Danske Hoteller has entered into a nationwide collaboration with the "Too Good To Go" organization since 2018, where the individual hotels, through agreements with "Too Good To Go", can deliver a more closely agreed, usually variable, number of food portions directly to you and other interested Danes.
Via a nationwide app, you can see for yourself where surplus food is available for little money.
Refood certificate
With Danske Hoteller we make a big effort to stop food waste and for recycling.
We are in favor of sustainability, and with Dakas ReFood brand we can therefore say that...
- We sort and have a recycling scheme for food waste
- We have small plates on the buffet
- We receive training in food waste
- We offer doggy bags for guests
More organically produced food in our kitchens
We are introducing more and more organically produced foods into our production. Our kitchen managers have gone through or been offered training in sustainable ecology, and we focus on our consumption of raw materials with a view to using organically produced raw materials on a larger and larger scale.
We serve e.g. now almost exclusively organically produced beer.
Environmentally friendly purchases in general
In connection with our purchases in general, we work purposefully to make our purchases as environmentally friendly as possible, and suppliers are required to produce the deliveries in a sustainable manner.

“Plastic out of Danske Hoteller"
As the first hotel company in Denmark, we already started the project "Plastic out of" in 2018 Danske Hoteller".
We want a minimization of plastic consumption and are e.g. went from plastic mugs to cardboard mugs, from plastic egg cups to cardboard egg cups and from plastic straws to straws produced without plastic content. And we continue to work...
Replacement of heat sources
In 2019, we were the first in Denmark to enter into an agreement with Grundfos on energy checks and replacement of heat pumps, and we will continue to work along this path in the coming years.
